An early 18th c. black, "Tournai stone" sink

A nicely worn, rectangular black stone sink. Beautiful bolection moulding on the front. Delicate cavetto carved into the inner, front corners. Several small losses, scuffs and chips on the upper edge and body. Superficial hairline cracks throughout the body, due to the layered structure of the stone (please refer to images). Structurally sound and perfectly water tight.

Rescued from a town house in Maastricht, Southern Netherlands, ca. 1700
