A nicely worn 18th. Breccia marble sink

SOLD

Reference N°:

123-23

A rare, rectangular marble sink carved out of the highly decorative "Baixas" Breccia marble, once quarried in southern France. The front features a boldly carved bolection moulding. Some wear consistent with age and use. A few, small losses on the front upper rim. One small, unobtrusive loss on the front right corner (please refer to images). The irregular shape at the back is due to the fact that the sink was inserted into a wall. Excellent, usable condition. No cracks or breaks, structurally perfectly sound and water tight.

The sink has a central basin (42cm wide x 36cm deep x 10,5cm high - 16.5" wide x 14.2" deep x 4.1"high) flanked by two drain boards.

Drainage hole diameter: 5cm / 2"

Origin:

Rescued from a town house in the Hérault region, Southern France, ca. 1750

External dimensions:

76cm wide x 48,5cm deep x 17cm high
29.9" wide x 19.1" deep x 6.7" high
