An early 18th century, rectangular stone font

SOLD

Reference N°:

257

A rare, Baroque Flemish stone font. Carved from petit granit (Belgian blue limestone) with its characteristic white fossil inclusions, this rectangular font displays a boldly moulded Baroque profile and a finely chiseled surface finish. The stone has developed a rich patina with age, showing expected wear along the edges and a few minor losses to the body. Otherwise in excellent, usable condition, with no cracks or breaks. A striking and architectural example of early 18th century Flemish craftsmanship.
