A mid-18th century, brown Pyrenean marble sink

SOLD

Reference N°:

251-25

This 18th-century French sink, carved from richly coloured Pyrenean marble, is a fine example of period craftsmanship and design. Its warm brown stone is subtly veined, characteristic of marble sourced from the Pyrénées region. The front corners are softly rounded, adding a touch of refinement and gentle symmetry to the otherwise solid form.

The basin is cartouche-shaped featuring fluid, undulating edges that enhance the visual appeal. Despite its age, the sink remains structurally sound, with a smooth, expertly finished bottom surface that ensures efficient water drainage.

Signs of wear are present on the body, consistent with centuries of use. There are a few chips and minor losses along the edges, most notably around the lip and corners, which do not detract from its function or beauty.
