An 18th century "Rouge du Languedoc" marble sink

Reference N°:

249

An extremely rare, 18th-century rectangular marble sink, finely carved from Rouge du Languedoc marble, distinguished by its rich crimson hue with natural white veining. The sink features a central oval basin seamlessly integrated into the surface. The front corners are gently cut at an angle, softening the otherwise rectilinear form and lending it an elegant architectural presence.

Elaborate moulding embellishes the front and both sides, framing the sink with a sense of refinement and classical detail. While the sink shows signs of age, including minor losses, chips, and knocks consistent with centuries of use, these do not detract from its visual appeal. There is moderate surface wear, adding character and authenticity.

The bottom surface is expertly finished and subtly sloped to ensure perfect water drainage. Despite its age and wear, the sink remains structurally sound and solid.
