A mid-18th century, Dutch limestone sink

Reference N°:

240

A rare, mid 18th century rectangular stone sink carved from Petit Granit limestone - a dense fossil rich blue-grey stone once quarried in present-day Belgium. The body features a beautifully carved bolection edge on three sides. The fine chiseled finish, still visible on the exterior surfaces, gives the piece a textured, hand-worked appearance that speaks to its age and artisanal origins. The bottom surface of the sink is smooth and allows a perfect drainage of the water towards the sink's drain hole. Some unobtrusive wear consistent with age and use. A few small chips, scuffs and losses along the edges and areas where the stone has been gently worn down. Otherwise in excellent, usable condition. No cracks or breaks, structurally sound and water tight.
