A late 18th century, Dutch stone sink

Reference N°:

237

A rare, late 18th century Dutch rectangular stone sink carved from Petit Granit limestone - a dense fossil rich blue-grey stone quarried in present-day Belgium. The body features a beautifully carved bolection edge on three sides. The fine chiseled finish, still visible on the exterior surfaces, gives the piece a textured, hand-worked appearance that speaks to its age and artisanal origins. The tooling marks offer a tactile, subtly irregular surface. The interior basin is worn smooth from use, with softened edges and a shallow slope toward the drain area. A few small chips and losses along the edges and areas where the stone has been gently worn down. Otherwise in excellent, usable condition. No cracks or breaks, structurally sound.
