An early 19th cent. "Languedoc" marble sink

A rare, trapezoidal shaped marble sink, carved out of a beautifully veined "Rouge du Languedoc" marble. Nice bolection moulding on the front and lateral sides. The four, inner corners of the basin curved inwards.

In very good, usable condition. No cracks or breaks. Some unobtrusive wear on the edges and the bottom of the sink consistent with age and use.

Diameter drain hole: 4,5cm / 1.8" (any, modern unslotted drain plug will fit)

Inner height basin: 9cm / 3.55"

Width at the front: 110,5cm / 43.5". Width at the back: 90cm / 35.4"

Salvaged from a town house in Montpellier, Southern France, ca. 1800-1820
